This bachelor thesis deals with the issue of birth injuries of woman during vaginal delivery. The aim of this thesis was to summarize the knowledge of anatomy of birth canal and the issue of birth injuries. The aim in practical part of the thesis was to find out how is the awareness of woman about this issue, which birth injuries are the most frequent or whether had the preparation of perineum impact to formation ofbirth injuries. Theoretical part briefly describes the anatomy of birth canal, this range is in my opinion sufficient for midwives. There are also described particular kinds of birth injuries and its treatment. Care about birth injuries in puerperium was also described in theoretical part. Particular kinds of prevention of perineum to delivery were also part of theoretical part. In practical part I worked with informations, that I gained from quantitative questionnaire, which was taking place in departements of puerperium in Gynekologicko- porodnická klinika 1. lékařské fakulty a Univerzity Karlovy v Praze. The research shows, that the most common delivery injury is episiotomy and rupture. The research did not confirm whether the preparation of perineum to delivery has an impact on the occurance of delivery injuries but these results are attributed to the nature of the department in...
Delivery injuries and maternal age
Faltová, Anna ; Dvořák, Jan (advisor) ; Přáda, Jan (referee)
The bachelor's thesis aim was to find out whether older age of mother during labour could be a potential risk factor for birth injuries. Bachelor thesis has two parts, theoretical and practical. The theoretical part describes the problematics of birth injuries and summarizes several foreign studies, which consider the age of mother as a risk factor for some birth injuries. The hypothesis was that older age is a risk factor for birth injuries. The aim of the practical part was to find whether the hypothesis is correct or not. The hypothesis was tested by comparing the incidence of different birth injuries between four groups of women settled by age (18-25 years, 26-30 years, 31-35 years, >35 years). In most cases the lowest number of injuries were in the youngest group (18-25 years), but the differences between groups were not statistically significant. Due to the small sample of women, I have analysed, the hypothesis could not be conclusively confirmed, but also conclusively disproved. Key words: delivery injuries, maternal age, vaginal delivery, pelvic floor, levator avulsion, pelvic floor dysfunction, OASI
